Local Lincolnshire
Lincolnshire is not the first place that comes to mind when you think of food hotspots in the UK. However, with specialities such as Lincolnshire Plum Bread, Lincolnshire sausages, beef and cheese it explains why we were crowned 2011’s top food county in a public vote led by Love British Food, just piping Cornwall to the post.
But it’s not just that, we also have some amazing independent suppliers of all things food. I’m passionate about supporting local businesses where I can. I believe in having the choice to buy local products from local people, people that provide a much more personal service than I can get in bigger stores. I shop in the supermarkets on a weekly basis, of course I do, but I prefer to know that my eggs and meat haven’t travelled miles to get to my plate.
Local Lincolnshire is my occasional series highlighting both recipes from the around the region and the people I try and support. Search the Local Lincolnshire category to see what’s been happening so far and if you have any suggestions about people I should know about then please feel free to get in touch in via the contact page.
