My darling girl

Tomorrow is your birthday and you will turn two. It feels like only 5 minutes have passed since I sat down to write to you on your first birthday. A whole year has gone in the blink of an eye.

And what a year. You have changed so much; learnt so many new things. My baby (you will always be my baby) is now a toddler full of energy and sunshine. You run to meet life at full pelt; everything is amazing and filled with excitement. Life is fun, wonderful and something to be embraced.

Your personality is so much larger than you and developing all the time. You find everything amusing; though seem to be taking after your daddy with a slap stick sense of humour. You have so much love to give and aren’t afraid to show it. You give cuddles and smoochies with ease and relish every bit of love shown to you. You share easily and want everyone to be involved with everything.

You love baths, going on the bus and walking around town. You make friends wherever you go and no one seems to be able to resist your cheeky grin. You are obsessed with biscuits (or “wiccies”) and fruit but will eat anything put in front of you. You adore Doll-do and Teddy Bear. You love books and often spend time ‘reading’ to yourself. You are rather partial to TV and ask when it’s time for your favourite programs.

Next month you start playgroup. You will make your first small steps into the world without me by your side and, you know what, I know you’ll be fine. I will be proud to watch you start to carve your own path but know that I will always be just behind you, ready for when you need me. You just need to hold out your hand and I will be there.

You are loved more than you will ever know.
