Piglet’s off to the pub!
Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post about Piglet going to her Granny’s overnight for the first time. It helped to know that other people had felt the same and that I wasn’t just being daft!
Well, I’m happy to report that it was a major success! Piglet went off quite happily (I however cried for about an hour!) and had a fabulous time. She was taken to the pub where she got to sit in the pub garden, people watching and being fed highly inappropriate food for an 8 month old. Luckily I didn’t have to deal with the results of it!
She was entertained for hours watching my parents cats and trying to grab chunks of their fur, was hardly put down and somehow managed to convince my Mum that the best place for her to sleep was in the big spare bed with her! She came home exhausted but clearly very happy and even cried when they left.
And me? After the tears, I had a long soak in a hot bath with a book, even managing to top the hot water up twice, napped, baked and read the weekend papers (including the ones from the weekend before!). We relaxed, rested, watched TV and ate a massive Indian takeaway.
Even though I missed her terribly, the break showed me exactly how tired I have been and much we needed a break. Though I didn’t catch up on nearly enough sleep, not having to run around from one job to the other helped. I now feel much more relaxed and able to deal with the early starts (though oddly, Piglet has slept until 5.30/6am for the last two mornings!).
Piglet will be going to stay with them again. My parents are talking about making it a semi regular thing which I think can only be a good thing. I get a chance to rest, they get to increase their bond with her and Piglet gets to go to the pub!
